Clerk in the Civil Service, worked at Greenough P.O. from 1859-1866, and employed at National Bank, Fremantle in 1867 and was manager by 1872. Henry Charles Sutherland (1804-1855) arrived in Western Australia at the "Parmelia" in 1829. Surveyor; Collector of Revenue and Treasury Clerk; Colonial Treasurer; MLC. Owned land at Crawley (site of UWA). His son, Robert Morgan Sutherland (1833-1897) was a civil servant (in Colonial Secretary's Office, Police Dept., Customs Dept.); postmaster at Greenough (1859-1966); agent, then manager, of the National Bank in Fremantle; Captain of Fremantle Volunteer Force.
